Award-Winning Director, Author and PhD Researcher Leon Mitchell (MSc, BA Hons)
Explores the Creative Framework of the Human Mind In His New Book.
What if the stories we tell are not just entertainment, but the very biological architecture of our survival?

Leon Mitchell is set to deepen the understanding of creativity with his new work and book, IMAGINATION: And The Human Story. Currently a PhD researcher and Psychology Masters Graduate of Wolverhampton University, Mitchell is bridging the gap between his extensive creative career, and the rigorous world of neuroscience, moving beyond the "mirage" of traditional art to explore the cognitive "scaffolding" that helps shape and define our species.
Following his recent British Psychological Society (BPS) article "The internal cinema: Creativity as the compass of the self". Mitchell’s work continues to move forward with the conversation regarding the Default Mode Network (DMN) and Narrative Identity. And he continues to develop and index research across key platforms such as ResearchGate, ORCID, and CERN's Zenodo.
In this new book, Mitchell articulates a vision that has already earned him a Civic Award nomination and early thought leadership recognition. You can also discover Mitchel’s profile on TEDx (ID: 48772887).
"We must listen for the signals in our own stories – those uncomfortable, beautiful, and demanding reflections of what we want and need to change. We are the only species capable of rewriting our own code. We are the authors of an unfinished epic."— Leon Mitchell, BPS Article.
Leon’s mission is to explore the myth that creativity is a "soft skill." Through his "Scaffold Model," he demonstrates that imagination is a vital cognitive requirement—the DNA-level structure that allows humans to process trauma, envision progress, and build resilient communities. It's what moves the human story forwards.
"Creativity is the architect of our reality," says Mitchell. "It is the primary tool we use to carve purpose out of the void when we are lost. My goal is to change how the world views this faculty—not as an optional luxury, but as the essential scaffolding of our being."— Leon Mitchell.
IMAGINATION: And the Human Story is a breathtaking exploration of why we dream, why we tell stories, and how those stories, in turn, build us and flow through the human experience.
The book is expected late 2026 - early 2027.
